"Canvassing to me means being on the front lines for Christ. You see the battle of good and evil right in front of you. It helps build your character and helps you stand strong for God. Don't be ashamed!"

Why Youth Summit?

Many youth today are looking for a purpose, searching for something more than just a "job". I often hear them asking, "How can I make a difference in the world?"

The World Is In Desperate Need

  • Fathers kill their own children then commit suicide
  • Fellow students hold their teachers and classmates hostage
  • The poor go to bed hungry

  • Judges accept bribes

The Answer Is Jesus

What the world is looking for is hope! There is only one way to acquire this hope... JESUS! Without Him there is no way off this planet alive!

Don't take it from me!

Here's the firsthand account of one canvasser:

I have been absolutely longing to share what Jesus means to me for a long time, but I never was brave enough to do it until I came to Savannah to colporteur. This was only the result of a series of miracles and then one final decision on my part to choose Jesus over the things the world wants me to believe are important.

Canvassing has made me realize that there is really nothing better, no joy greater, than sharing Jesus with other people. But the real joy is in knowing Jesus in the first place. It just grows stronger when you share it with others.

I have had many incredible experiences this summer but the one I am going to share revealed to me how hungry people are for Jesus.

I had been canvassing apartments and books were going out like candy. It was time for pick-up and Nigel radioed me and told me that he was coming to get me. While I was waiting outside I watched a family (who were moving into their new apartment) carrying tables, picture frames, and bed frames inside. I realized that I had not canvassed that family yet.

I went up to one of the ladies who was there and started to canvass with the Desire of Ages. I said, “This beautiful devotional on--,” and she said, “How much?” I looked at her face and her eyes were huge and she was holding the book and staring at it like she couldn’t believe it (The picture on the cover is Jesus standing with his hands reaching out toward you).

I replied, “Well, we usually ask for donations between $10 and $15 for that one.”
She responded, “I want it. I’ll take it. Do you take cash?”
“Yes, sure,” I said startled.
She looked at me with eyes made fearless because of desperation behind them. “I’m so lost,” she told me. “I don’t know what to believe.”
“This book is just what you need then,” I said as my eyes began filling with tears.

I canvassed her on a couple of other books bus she said she only wanted the Desire of Ages. I closed her on that book and she gave me a 10 dollar bill. I asked if I could pray with her and she kind of jumped a little and said, “What? Oh, I don’t know. How do you do it? Do I have to close my eyes?” I really started tearing up at that point. “Well, you don’t have to. You can do whatever you want.” I prayed that God would find her and bless her and show her Himself. I don’t really remember what I prayed other than that.

When I finished the prayer I realized I was holding her hands and her eyes were full of tears. She said, “Thank you.” I asked if she wanted Bible studies and she looked astonished again and said, “You do that?” I responded, “Yes! My church does.” She assured me she wanted Bible studies and hugged me as she told me, “You have no idea what this means to me. Thank you!”

Jesus loves so much. Praise Him!
